Our speakers are local professionals from a wide array of fields providing insights into what their job entails. These events are free and open to the public.

Topic: Discover Your Roots: A Beginner’s Guide to Genealogy
Allison DePrey Singleton, MA, MLS, is the genealogy services manager at the Allen County Public Library’s Genealogy Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana. During her workshop, you will learn the basics of genealogy and how to trace your family history. This workshop will guide you through the first steps of researching your family’s story, using helpful tools and resources to uncover your past. It is perfect for anyone curious about their roots or wanting to start their genealogy journey.
Allison co-chaired the 2018 Federation of Genealogical Societies (FGS) Conference and leads various genealogy programming initiatives. Additionally, Allison is the Northeast Regional Co-Coordinator for National History Day in Indiana and holds a board position with the Indiana German Heritage Society. She also serves as the president of the Indiana Genealogical Society.
