Accessing eBooks, eJournals, and Other Online Materials

McMillen Library subscribes to a variety of online resources, including academic databases of articles, eJournals, eBook collections, and much more. Please visit our Research page to access these collections.

  • Only students, faculty, and staff of Indiana Tech have access to subscription databases and electronic books. Our licenses and contractual agreements with vendors prohibit the use to all others including alumni and community users/visitors.
  • If you are off-campus, please log into “letmein.indianatech.edu” portal first, in order to properly authenticate your credentials for the library subscribed databases. Use your Indiana Tech username (your email address) and password to login.

 Research Guides

The librarians provide a number of Research Guides on various topics, and these can be found here on our LibGuides site. These guides provide users with a starting point when conducting research, or highlight topic areas to show where one can learn more about specific subject matter.

 Accessing Materials from Other Libraries

Sometimes a user will seek full-text access to a book or article that McMillen Library does not have access to. Users may wish to visit their own local public or university library in an attempt to obtain these materials. Patrons may visit McMillen Library to request an Academic Libraries of Indiana (ALI) card, which can then be used to obtain materials from these libraries. Please inquire at the McMillen Library Welcome Desk about this possibility.

 Interlibrary Loan (ILL)

If the material you want or need cannot be obtained from the McMillen Library, Interlibrary Loan is a possible option for acquiring access to the resource. Articles often arrive within 4 business days and are e-mailed as PDF files. Books may take from two weeks up to a month. Please notice that we cannot guarantee a delivery timeframe because we depend on the lending libraries’ procedures. Books can be picked up at the Circulation Desk. You can request an Interlibrary Loan by completing the Interlibrary Loan Form.

What can be requested via ILL?

  • Books
  • Selected book chapters
  • Dissertations & Theses
  • Technical Reports

Faculty, staff and students can recommend and suggest acquisitions for the library collections. These requests will be given consideration based on the funds available and collection development policies. Fill out the Purchase Request Form here.
